About Arianna Powell
Holding a B.S. in Music Education with a concentration in jazz guitar from Duquesne University, Arianna Powell is now making her way into Hollywood fame after being named one of the “50 Sensational Female Guitarists” by Guitar Player magazine in 2017.
Born and raised in Pennsylvania but currently living in Los Angeles, Powell has quickly become one of the most exciting young female guitarists in Hollywood.
She grew up in a musical home with both parents playing piano and guitar regularly and actively encouraging her to get into playing an instrument of her own choice. Powell got her start on piano and bass but decided to pick up the guitar at the age of 12 after watching and old video of “Our Lips Are Sealed” by The Go-Go’s, where she would try to replicate the prominent bass line on her dad’s old Yamaha.
Her main source of inspiration mostly lies with artists such as Leanne Jarvis and Gillian Welch. She also loves listening to the powerful, yet soulful voice of Grammy nominated jazzy-R&B chanteuse, Emily King, known for mixing a broad range of genres including pop, soul and indie on her albums.
Powell generally admires people that are “out there”, because it means that they have pursued their dream of having a career in music.
After receiving her B.S. in Music Education, she spent several years playing at small Pittsburgh venues with several bands before she finally decided to follow her dream of becoming a professional musician in Hollywood. After a tough start with a lot of moving from place to place, Powell had second thoughts about whether she had made the right choice by leaving her family and friends behind in favor of a new life in Los Angeles.
Once settled down, Powell immersed herself on the local music scene by attending studio jam sessions and hanging out with local musicians. She quickly gained respect for her intense solos and professionalism, which ultimately got her an audition with Nick Jonas in the fall of 2015.
Powell's confidence and extensive knowledge of music including jazz, pop, folk and R&B has rewarded her tours with some of the biggest names in the music industry such as Chris Brown, Black Eyed Peas and will.i.am. She has also recently played on American Idol, toured with Drake Bell and is currently touring Asia with Singaporean sensation JJ Lin.
