About Colin Scott

Colin Scott, the man behind CSGuitars, picked up the guitar relatively late but has made up for lost time through his work as blogger, guitar player, luthier, and festival arranger.

Based in Edinburgh, Colin Scott started playing guitar after high school and eventually formed the melodic death metal band, Dana O’Hara with his brother.

Colin studied physics at Strathclyde University in Glasgow and after finishing his studies, he decided to make some YouTube videos for his channel until he found a job.

After a few provocatively titled videos (“How Not To Dial A Metal Tone” or the follow-up “How To Still Not Dial A Metal Tone”), he started getting a lot views all of a sudden and he decided to step up his game.

2017 was a big year for Colin. It started off looking like any other year until Henning Pauly invited him to attend the first ever GuitCon, where he met up with a gang of the top guitar bloggers along with a handful of the premier guitar companies in the world.

Since then, he has been pretty busy.

His videos are at once low-key and down to earth with a great sense of humour but Colin also has a way of finding topics that are both educational and timely.

He is also not afraid to get technical and take stuff apart to see what makes it tick, sometimes taking an almost scientific approach to certain topics.

Aside from making videos, Colin also works as a luthier, making his own handmade instruments out of a small workshop.

He is also a member of the organisational team behind Wildfire festival, Scotland’s only outdoor rock and metal festival, which takes place annually in June.
