aNorm™ Adaptive Loudness Normalization (optional) for Loudness Pilot is not just A new norm. It's THE new norm for stereo loudness processing.

It's a new adaptive approach to loudness normalization, and it's easier to set up and use than any other loudness correction solution.

At the same time, it delivers stellar audio quality and keeps you safely within the boundaries of international loudness standards and legislation.

aNorm also introduces a whole new way of visualizing pre and post loudness processing: the beautiful Butterfly MeterTM shows you exactly what happens to the program and why.

aNorm is an optional license for Loudness Pilot.

Targeted On Your Tasks

We've focused this unit on the areas most relevant to regional and local broadcast stations working with stereo SDI.

This means that you've have a single, fit-for-purpose tool ready to deliver two languages simultaneously or to two different platforms such as TV and mobile.

And you can choose from either the SDI or AES versions and add our renowned Loudness Radar as a separate License.

ALC2 Loudness Processing

LP Screen 06

Subtle corrections to loudness can make a significant difference to your viewers/listeners.

ALC2 is capable of doing just that - correct substantially when needed, subtle when appropriate and leave your audio absolutely untouched when it's already normalized.

Years of research and standardization work on loudness and true-peak level has enabled us to design high-resolution, low-latency loudness control algorithms such as ALC2.

Ultimate Reliability

Ultimate reliability

We're serious about being fail-safe. Not only have we given you what you would expect - dual fans and dual fuses - we've also packed Loudness Pilot with dual power inlets. You are now virtually risk-free of losing power while on air.

Loudness Pilot is an "always on" unit that will deliver a non-stop performance for years. Even in the event of a regional power failure rest assured that your transmission will continue thanks to the Relay Bypass feature that passes your stream directly from input to output no matter what happens.

Further, if one of the power sources fail, you can be notified using GPIO or SNMP traps.

  • Dual Power - For Independent Power Sources
  • Dual Fuses - Double Up on Fuses
  • Dual Fans - Two Low Noise Quality Fans
  • Relay Bypass - On both SDI and AES versions!

Applications: OB Van, Live Production & Transmission

Dual Language/Dual TV Channel Correction

Dual Language/Dual TV Channel Correction

Loudness Pilot is a dual stereo and dual mono processor, allowing loudness processing of two TV channels or two languages simultaneously.

The optional LM2 Radar meter allows you to monitor the output of each TV channel or language and even create log files.

Multi Platform Transmission

Multi Platform Transmission

With its dual stereo infrastructure, Loudness Pilot allows loudness processing for multiple platforms simultanously.

For instance, you can deliver -23 LUFS for HDTV AND -16 LUFS for mobile applications in realtime.

Live Stereo Production

Live Stereo Production

Loudness Pilot is a fantastic tool for Live TV production whether you work in an OB Van or in a remote control room.

The ALC2 loudness processing algorithm gives you optimal loudness control of the audio output, and with the LM6 Radar Meter (optional) you can constantly monitor the audio - before as well as after loudness processing.

Auto Input switching, Dual Language

Auto Input switching, Dual Language

Loudness Pilot features Auto Input Switching, enabling seamless fall-back switching to source B if source A is not available.

Auto Input switching, Emergency

Auto Input switching, Emergency

Auto Input Switching also lets you set up Loudness Pilot so that it automatically switches to an emergency channel, if there is audio present on that channel.

5 Versions: 1, 2 or 3 Streams & AES Balanced or Unbalanced

Bone All

We're aware that some broadcasters prefer to pass just the audio signal through their loudness unit, while others want to pass the full SDI stream. That is why we're offering an expandable SDI version as well as two 16-channel AES versions (Balanced and Unbalanced).

  • SDI I/O or 24 Bit AES/EBU I/O (Unbal. AES3id on BNC connectors (75 ohm) or bal. AES on SUB-D connectors).
  • Auto Relay Bypass - To make sure your transmission will never be interrupted.
  • 'Freewheel' Safety Belt - Should sync be lost, Loudness Pilot relies on the latest known sample rate at a staggering 96 bit precision.
  • 24/7 Stability and Consistent Output - Day to day predictability for an absolute minimum of downstream carrier inconsistencies
  • JET Jitter Reduction - We invented the unsurpassed JET™ technology and obviously integrated it with Loudness Pilot.

In the Press

There's a reason that world-leading broadcast magazine regularly invite us to share our knowledge: we've been pioneers in the digital audio world since 1985.

We've taken part in research studies and the definition of international broadcast standards right from the start, donating technology which has become a crucial part in new, open international standards.

The TC Electronic Legacy

Loudness Authority

Our history in digital signal processing goes back to 1985 when we introduced the legendary TC 2290 Dynamic Digital Delay unit that has been embraced by professional studios and musicians for almost three decades.

Ever since, we have kept exploring the world of digital audio, and from a loudness point of view, we were also first movers, taking part in early 'Perceived Loudness' research studies.

Likewise, we have played a role in the definition of various international broadcast standards right from the beginning, and over the years we have even donated technology that has become part of these international, open standards.

These standards evolve on an ongoing basis and new revisions are often being released. Since we have in-depth expertise on the underlying technologies, we are 100% dedicated to be among the very first to update our complete range of broadcast and production products to the latest standard.

In other words, with our broadcast products, you can be sure to be compliant today as well as tomorrow.
